Coldplay have denied stealing a melody from an American indie band for a song from their new album 'Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends'.
Brooklyn band Creaky Boards claimed that Chris Martin and co. had seen them at the CMJ Festival last year, and 'seemed pretty into it'. They claimed that their song 'The Songs I Didn't Write' was ripped off for Coldplay's 'Viva la Vida'.
A Coldplay representative has denied the claims, however - saying that 'Viva la Vida' was originally demoed 7 months before the band played the CMJ festival - and in any case, Martin was in London at the time of their gig.
