A new documentary is claiming that Cliff Richard was robbed of a Eurovision victory in 1968.

Richard's entry 'Congratulations' was beaten into second place by the winning song 'La La La' by Spanish singer Massiel - but documentary maker Montse Fernandez Vila alleges that dictator Francisco Franco bought votes to ensure a Spanish victory.

Vila's documentary shows Spanish TV host Jose Maria Inigo saying: "It was a fix. Massiel won Eurovision with bought votes".

However, Eurovision TV director Bjorn Erichsen said that there wouldn't be an investigation into the claim, however possible it may have been.

"Just to make Cliff Richard a little happier and the Spanish winner a bit more unhappy?" he said. "I don't think you should dig up old bodies to prove he was or wasn't the father. It's history."
