Yesterday evening brought the sad news that Aslan frontman Christy Dignam is receiving palliative care at his Dublin home.
The 62-year-old musician was diagnosed with an incurable cancer, amyloidosis, in 2013 and has been undergoing regular chemotherapy to manage it ever since.
Dignam was admitted to hospital in July 2022 and although Aslan had scheduled gigs throughout autumn - including a celebration of their 40th anniversary as a band at the 3Arena in September - they were forced to cancel it after Dignam "suffered a setback with his treatment."
Now, it has been revealed that he is receiving palliative care at his home since last month.
The Irish music community came together to send messages of love and support to Dignam - so much so that 'Christy' has been trending on Irish Twitter since yesterday.
