The family of Chris Cornell want to erect a statue of the late Soundgarden frontman in his hometown of Seattle.

Vicky Cornell told the Seattle Times that she has been in contact with sculptor Wayne Toth - who crafted the statue of Johnny Ramone on his grave at the Hollywood Forever cemetery (below) - and that "He has already given me a design and the children and I love it."

She added that she would welcome input from fans about where in the city it would be situated. "He is Seattle’s son,” she said, “and we will be bringing him home and honoring him, I hope, with all of you, your love and support.”

Cornell died in May at the age of 52. His wife said that she and the family were still grieving. "Two months still feels like yesterday,” Cornell said. “It is still very recent and I’m sure this will be a process to years, to come to terms with what happened. If that’s ever actually possible...He loved us so much that it's difficult to imagine life without such love, so we are holding on so tight to what we have."
