Billy Corgan announced on Friday that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin is to part ways with the reformed Smashing Pumpkins.
Apart from Corgan, Chamberlin was the only original member of the Pumpkins to play on their recent 20th anniversary tour and his departure has left Corgan to continue the Smashing Pumpkins legacy, effectively as a solo artist.
The band released a statement via their website that said: "Corgan will continue to write and record as SMASHING PUMPKINS with plans to head into the studio this spring."
