Some 24,000 votes have been counted and Electric Picnic has won the grand prize of Best Large Festival at the Irish Festival Awards. The Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival earned the Best Medium Festival gong, while Knockantockan came up trumps in the Best Small Festival category.

Elsewhere, Electric Picnic also took home the award for Greenest Festival but it was Knockanstockan who will likely be celebrating the most today, having won the awards for Best Lineup, Family Festival Award and Social Responsibility Award.

The Meteor Camden Crawl picked up the honour of Best New Festival, while The Stone Roses, Foo Fighters and Hot Chip bagged the gongs for Best Headline Act, Best Rock Act and Best Dance Act respectively.

It should be noted that the Irish Festival Awards are run by Cherrycool Promotions, who also run Castlepalooza, so that festival is excluded from the awards.
