The pop star's latest second-hand brush with the law - again, through none of her own doing - involves her ex-husband Jason Alexander, who attempted to gatecrash her recent wedding to Sam Asghari.

Alexander, as you may remember, was a childhood friend of Spears whom she married in Las Vegas in 2004 - but their union was short-lived and was annulled after 55 hours.

The 40-year-old attempted to gain access to Spears' home on the day of her wedding and was arrested and jailed. He was convicted of trespassing and battery, and a judge sentenced him to 64 days imprisonment - the time that he has already served.

Alexander had streamed himself on Instagram Live ahead of the ceremony while outside the property, saying that he was there to 'crash' the wedding and repeating "She's my first wife, my only wife."

The pop star's security team apprehended him and in the scuffle, "an item was broken", according to police, which accounts for the 'battery' charge.

He's not the only ex-husband that Britney has had issues with, recently; her former husband Kevin Federline has been in the news after giving a controversial interview stating that the pair's teenage sons do not want to see her and posting an video of her arguing with the kids (which he later deleted).

She responded to Federline's accusations in a post that read "It saddens me to hear that my ex husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children. As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone."

Britney, meanwhile, is making her musical comeback with Elton John on a reworked version of 'Tiny Dancer' dubbed 'Hold Me Closer' - due for release this Friday, August 19th.
