Breaking Tunes, a website which profiles over two thousand Irish bands, has just launched a new free iPhone App which will allow users to easily search for and listen to music on their phones.
Breakingtunes.com is run by First Music Contact, a free information and advice resource for musicians and the independent music sector in Ireland. The site allows musicians from all over the country to upload information about themselves, detailed gig listings and even music and videos for free streaming. All of these are now available via the new iPhone App which is available to download from the iTunes App Store.
Minister Mary Hanafin commented, "I am delighted to see the development of the Breakingtunes App - one of the 25 successful projects that received funding under the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport's Cultural Technology initiative in 2010. Breaking Tunes will enhance access to the wealth of musical talent, both new and established for which our country is justifiably renowned and will I am sure, become an essential mobile guide for artists, agents and music lovers alike. I congratulate First Music Contact on successfully developing and delivering such an exciting and innovative project and wish them every success for the future".
