Pioneering rock 'n' roll artist Bo Diddley died at the weekend. He was 79 years old.

Diddley, whose real name was Otha Ellas Bates, was widely regarded as one of his genre's most influential guitarists and invented his trademark 'shuffle beat' style in the '50s, which became the basis for many r'n'b and rock songs.

Some of Diddley's best-known songs included 'Who Do You Love?', 'I'm A Man' and 'Bo Diddley'.

He suffered both a stroke and a heart attack in 2007, which he never recovered from, and died of heart failure at his Florida home in the early hours of yesterday morning.
