After a two year hiatus, including the solo debut of frontman Kele Okereke, Bloc Party are to reunite officially in September.

Rumours of a reunion intensified in the last few weeks after guitarist Russell Lissack left his post as a touring member of Ash. Lissack told NME that the band had already started working on new material, but that they have no plans to perform live until into 2012.

"Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff together and separately ... We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material."

Lissack admitted in another interview that he had already written "seven or eight" new songs for the band. We can't wait to hear them...
