You may remember a story from last year about how Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch intended to make a musical film and invited the public to submit internet audition tapes. Now, following the recent release of their 2CD BBC Sessions album late last year, Murdoch has announced details of the soundtrack album which will accompany the film, entitled God Help The Girl.

As well as all of Belle and Sebastian, the album features Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy, Asya from Smooch and two of the aforementioned internet contest winners. The album's 12 songs include reworkings of Life Pursuit tracks "Act of the Apostle" and "Funny Little Frog". The first single to be taken from God Help The Girl will be "Come Monday Night," which Murdoch describes as "a lullaby for an overworked boy."

God Help The Girl is the second soundtrack offering from the Glaswegian indie icons, after 2002's Storytelling, which they later admitted was a mistake of immense proportions. Let's hope this isn't a repeat performance.
