Yaaaaayyyy! After Beirut started appearing on festival line ups all over Europe, I was starting to get agitated waiting for an Irish date to be announced. I had quietly hoped Zach Condon & co. might play at the Electric Picnic, as it seemed to fit into their schedule quite well, but instead they have decided to play their own headlining date at Tripod on August 24th.
Beirut's last release was last year's 'March of the Zapotec/Holland' double EP, showcasing their Mexican influences and electronic experiments respectively. More recently, Condon contributed to Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse's 'Dark Night of The Soul' project, due for release on July 9th, and the upcoming album from The New Pornographers, 'Together', due for release this Friday 30th.
Tickets for Beirut will be priced €28.50-€34 and go on sale on this Wednesday April 28th at 9am. I'm so first in line.
