News spread like wildfire yesterday that Guns N' Roses were to cancel their entire upcoming tour, including dates in Dublin & Belfast. The news came from a post on Axl Rose's Twitter account and was quickly spread by bloggers and other online sources.

But we were somewhat suspicious, as despite the frenzy, no announcement was made by promoters MCD and tickets remained on sale on ticketmaster. Today, it all makes sense, as the band's management have revealed that Axl's Twitter was invaded by hackers who made the false statement. The post in question reads "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds" and can still be viewed on twitter.com/axlrose.

Guns N' Roses play the Odyssey Arena on next Tuesday August 31st and The O2 on Wednesday 1st September, both with support from Danko Jones.
