A report in today's Irish Times suggests that Apple are planning to introduce technology to iPhone's the world over which will make it impossible to record footage of concerts. Apple have filed a patent for the intended update, which will be able to determine if it's being used to record the copyrighted material and disable it's recording capabilities, however the phone's other functions would remain operational.

While this new technology would likely be unpopular with iPhone users, it would be a nice change to not have to see the dozens of phones being held in the air at gigs in the future. Seriously, I've never seen a picture or a video taken at a gig from a telephone that was even half-decent.
