Cast of Cheers, Heathers, Delorentos and Two Door Cinema Club are all among the list of nominees for the annual Choice Music Prize for the best Irish album of 2012. This year's ceremony, which will take place on March 7th in Vicar Street, will be the eighth since the inaugural award in 2005 which was won by Julie Feeney for her album 13 Songs.

The remaining nominees on the list are Adrian Crowley, Damien Dempsey, Julie Feeney, Mumblin' Deaf Ro, Windings and Wallis Bird. Interestingly enough, this year's list includes three former winners of the prize - Adrian Crowley, Two Door Cinema Club and Julie Feeney.

Last year's prize was won by Jape for the album Ocean of Frequency, who remain the only act to have won the award twice having also come out on top in 2008 for the excellent Ritual.

The winner will be selected by a panel of 11 music professionals, including entertainment.ie music scribe Elaine Buckley, with the winner being announced live on stage at Vicar Street.

The shortlist for Irish song of the year will be announced on January 30th with the winner of this also being announced at the March 7th ceremony.
