You may be aware that the Meteor Ireland Music Awards took place last night at the RDS. The Script were the night's big winners taking home both the awards for Best Irish Band and Best Irish Album. As announced in advance of the ceremony Sharon Shannon picked up her Lifetime Achievement gong, Hot Press' Niall Stokes took home the Industry Award, while Fr. Shay Cullen of the Preda Foundation received this year's Humanitarian Award along with a €100, 000 cheque for the charity. Sharon Shannon also picked up a joint award with Mundy with their song Galway Girl winning Most Downloaded Song.
