Following an outstanding performance to a packed tent at Longitude in Marley Park this weekend Alunageorge have confirmed a show at The Academy on Wednesday 16th October.
In the 12 months since their first release went viral, AlunaGeorge’s DIY video for ‘You Know You Like It’ has clocked up over 2 million views, the band were crowned the most blogged artist of 2012, they sold out a European tour, performed at Moschino’s catwalk show during London Fashion Week and made the top 3 for both last year’s prestigious BRITS Critics Choice Award and the BBCs Sound of 2013 (#2). On top of all of the above, with no surprise, Aluna has also kicked off a career in fashion having been signed by NEXT Models.
These accolades, and the universal praise heaped upon the duo’s shoulders, were of course a direct result of the incredibly fresh and unique music the pair are producing. Their second single ‘Your Drums, Your Love’ followed ‘You Know You Like It’ in October 2012 and latest single ‘Attracting Flies’ released in April this year has now sold over 100,000 copies. In between, AlunaGeorge scored a #2 hit single in the UK following their amazing collaboration with Disclosure on future classic ‘White Noise’.
Fast becoming an unstoppable force in 2013 with their signature sound that has captured the attention of critics and fans alike, AlunaGeorge are turning pop on its head. With a hectic summer full of gigs and festival appearances, their debut album ‘Body Music’ drops alongside a new ‘You Know You Like It’ EP on July 26th which includes the refreshed single and the B-side, 'Bad Idea'.
