Alabama Shakes have just announced an Irish gig on the 14th November in the Olympia Theatre.

The southern rockstars are all set to rock the main stage at Stradbally tonight but this gig will see the band in a smaller more intimate venue. The band first started when band member Britany Howard approached classmate Zac Cockrell and from there Alabama Shakes were born.

Their album Boys & Girls was released this year and has received great reviews, 'From the heart-rending title song to such stomps as 'Rise to the Sun,' the album demonstrates the sense of groove and space the band learned from their idols, along with a blistering force and emotion that simply can’t be learned.'

The band have found the audience reaction to their music as the most exciting, 'It seems like everyone can tell how into it we are,' says Cockrell. 'Every show, people say they can feel how much we love what we're doing'.

Tickets for the Olympia gig go on sale next Friday September 7th at 9am from outlets nationwide.
