The past few months have been tough for everyone, but especially those who have lost friends, family members and loved ones to Covid-19.

Being deprived of the 'normal' opportunity to grieve their loss has made the whole thing extremely difficult.

Until now, there hasn't been a commemorative service for those who have lost their lives to the virus, but Dublin's National Concert Hall is staging a special livestream on Friday for that very reason.

The NCH has staged various livestreams over the past few weeks and months under the 'NCH at Home' banner, with some well-known musicians playing haunting sets to an empty venue.

'ELEGY' will take place on Friday, July 17th at 8pm and will feature Ireland's leading choral ensemble, Chamber Choir Ireland and the Chamber Ensemble performing one of the most sublime works in the sacred classical canon - Fauré’s Requiem.

The evening will also include performances by lauded sean-nos singer/Gloaming member Iarla O’Lionaird, Grammy Award-winning Rhiannon Giddens and jazz  and classical pianist Francesco Turrisi, and baroque violinist Claire Duff.

You can tune in via the NCH's YouTube channel or their Facebook page on Friday at 8pm.
