With yesterday's sad news about the untimely passing of Dolores O'Riordan, fans, celebrities and her fellow musicians have been paying tribute to the Limerickwoman.
Many of them have been sharing personal memories relating to her voice and The Cranberries' music, or sharing footage that showcased her remarkable and unique voice. The likes of Hozier, Bryan Adams, President Michael D. Higgins, James Corden, Elijah Wood, and Bryan Adams tweeted their sadness at her loss, while a Book of Condolences is to be opened in Limerick for people to pay their respects.
Her bandmates also released a brief but poignant statement saying that they were 'devastated' by her death.
At time of writing the 46-year-old mother of three's cause of death has not been revealed, although police in London have said that it's being treated as 'unexplained'.
We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today.

My first time hearing Dolores O'Riordan's voice was unforgettable. It threw into question what a voice could sound like in that context of Rock. I'd never heard somebody use their instrument in that way. Shocked and saddened to hear of her passing, thoughts are with her family.

I was 18, had moved to Peru and was homesick. Was sitting outside a bar one day when suddenly I heard Linger wafting out across the water. That was the Dolores O’Riordan appeal; stretching as far as the remote Peruvian Amazon and lifting the spirits of a young lonely Irish girl.

#RIP Dolores O'Riordan. Her songs helped me so much when my father passed away a little younger than she was. A great talent has gone to soon...Again. 😔 I’m listening to her all songs and learning my lines at the same time. Again, she helps me:) #Cranberries #RIPDoloresORiordan pic.twitter.com/0hHVzmmcAM

Up late listening to Dolores O’Riordan and the Cranberries, one of my favorite bands. Loved their sound, loved her voice and the socially conscious message of her music. Gone way too soon. May her work live on.

Dolores O'Riordan's death has come as a great shock. From the outset she was a total natural as a songwriter, and she matured rapidly into a great front-woman too. She was bright, bubbly and in later years battled gamely with her difficulties. This is a desperately sad day.

For anyone who grew up in Ireland in the 1990s, Dolores O’Riordan was the voice of a generation. As the female lead singer of a hugely successful rock band, she blazed a trail and might just have been Limerick’s greatest ever rock star. RIP.

I’m saddened to hear of the death of Dolores O’Riordan at just 46. Her wonderful band recorded a moving song after the Warrington bomb in memory of two innocent victims, Johnathan Ball and my son Tim. RIP Dolores

My fondest memory of Delores O'Riordan was running an under 18s battle of the bands where Delores was one of the judges. The kids play their hearts out and she refused to give first place to anyone because they were all shite. She spoke the truth 😂 RIP DO'R
