There's been a lot of hate in the world this year, but this story is proof that (most) humans are essentially good people who look out for each other.

The other day, it was revealed that Greg Gilbert - frontman of English indie band Delays, who had hits with songs like 'Long Time Coming' and 'Nearer Than Heaven' - has been diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer that had also spread to his lungs.

His fianceé Stacey Heale explained that the only treatment worth a shot was not available on the NHS, so they would have to travel to the US for him to receive it.

"We were told this heart breaking news on our daughter Bay’s 1st birthday," she wrote. "I cannot put into words the terror and shock of this moment. To hear Greg ask the consultant how long he had left to live is the darkest moment of my life and something that will haunt me forever."

She set up a GoFundMe page to raise £100,000 and at time of writing, it is already at over £98,000 - which has been remarkably raised in just four days.
