We are nearly *GASP* entering the 20's. With that in mind, we thought it was about time we took at look back at eight top songs from the 00's; some of which you might have forgotten about.

Snow Patrol - 'Chocolate'

One of Ireland's (and Scotland's) biggest exports, Snow Patrol are the epitome of early to mid-00's music. The band's third album 'Final Straw' went straight to number one in the Irish chart, and with songs such as 'Run,' 'Chocolate' and 'Spitting Games,' it's no wonder we look back at the 2000's with such fond memories.

Black Eyed Peas - 'Shut Up'

Back before the Black Eyed Peas began churning out music for the hell of it (except for their latest release minus Fergie) they brought us lyrical gold with their album 'Elephunk.' Often overshadowed by leading single 'Where Is The Love,' 'Shut Up' is the perfect song to play when your relationship with your cat is on tenterhooks. Fun fact - Kimberly Wyatt from The Pussy Cat Dolls and Travis Barker from Blink-182 appear as cameos in the music video.

+44 - 'When You're heart Stops Beating'

Speaking of Travis Barker, he and bandmate Mark Hoppus joined forces following Blink-182's hiatus in 2005. The result was +44, who released one album in 2006 called 'When You're heart Stops Beating.' Tom DeLonge went on to create his own band, Angels and Airwaves.

Kelly Clarkson - 'Breakaway'

Kelly Clarkson's 'Breakaway' proved to be the album that just kept on giving; she released five singles from the album, including 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' and 'Since U Been Gone.' However the titular single, which featured on the soundtrack for 'The Princess Diaries 2', was actually co-written by 00's angsty pop-rock queen Avril Lavinge.

Scissor Sisters - 'Laura'

The Scissor Sisters' self-titled debut album was a resounding success. Landing into number one both in Ireland and the UK in February of 2004, the band thankfully arrived ahead of a certain Irish court case revolving around two sisters. The first track from the album, 'Laura' kicked off their debut in style, and is a little more tame than their later releases -  'Filthy/Gorgeous' we're looking at you.

Fall Out Boy - 'Sugar We're Going Down'

Fall Out Boy dominated the 00's, especially for those of us who had that brief emo stage at school. Their album 'From Under the Cork Tree' was the band's second album release of four from the 2000's, and continued their love for a super long song title. The alternative UK music video for 'Sugar We're Going Down' went on to win the MTV2 award at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards; here's the original.

Aly & AJ - 'Potential Breakup Song'

Sisters Alyson and Amanda Michalka released one of the catchiest songs from the 00's in 2007, which was on their album entitled 'Insomniatic.' Following a 10-year hiatus, including renaming themselves 78violet, the duo released their follow-up album last year '10 years' proving that they're not just a pair of one-hit wonders.

The Shins - 'New Slang'

00's indie never sounded so damn good. In 2001 we were introduced to James Mercer and Jesse Sandoval's newly formed The Shins, and their release of 'Oh, Inverted World.' 'New Slang' featured in the 13th episode of first series of 'Scrubs' in 2002, back when JD was still adjusting to life as a medical intern.

Those are just eight of the top songs from the 00's that you might have forgotten about - are there any more that you can think of? Let us know in the comments.
