Twin Headed Wolf’s debut album ‘Altarwise’ illustrates the first creative impulse of twin sisters Branwen and Julie Kavanagh; all of their dreams, ideals, and ideas are contained within the ritual worlds of each song.

The duo, from Clare, “attempt to create music outside of the boundaries of time and bleeding into the otherworld”. If that sounds like your kind of thing, read on to find more…

1. What’s the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?
I'd say we still listen to all of it! Nick Drake, Patti Smith, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley to name a few.

2. In three words, describe the minute before you walk on stage.
Giddy and mischievous!

3. How do you wind down after a gig?
A sing-song with our friends.

4. What’s the one song (by another artist) you wish you’d written or recorded first?
'Green Grass' by Tom Waits.

5. What is your pet peeve?
Feedback and haunted microphones.

6. Name one record, one book and one film that everyone should hear / read / see.
Record: 'Horses' by Patti Smith
Book: 'The Glass Castle' by Jeanette Walls
Film: 'Withnail and I'

7. Pick the director and lead actor(s) for a biopic about your life.
Director: Alejandro Jodorowsky for his uncompromising vision. We think Cillian Murphy could rise to the challenge of playing identical twins.

Lahmajoun with lemon and falafel wrap!

9. Describe your perfect day off.
A swim in the sea, nice coffee, a great theatre show and a trad session.

10. Tell us, in one sentence, why we should come to your next gig (whenever it may be.)
Because you can always expect the unexpected!
