R. Kelly is now reportedly facing a criminal investigation following claims made by his alleged sexual abuse victims from the documentary series, 'Surviving R. Kelly'.
The series featured several women who claimed that the singer sexually abused them. This has prompted the Fulton County District Attorney's office in Georgia to open investigations against him. Per TMZ, the investigation was as a direct result from what was discussed in 'Surviving R. Kelly' and have already contacted two of the women mentioned and interviewed in the series.
R. Kelly has repeatedly denied allegations that he sexually or physically abused women. However, Kelly has been accused of sexual misconduct and abuse numerous times since the '90s, and was acquitted in a child porn case in 2008. In 2017, claims were made that R. Kelly was keeping several women against their will in properties he owns, alleging that the singer was running a "sex cult" with these women.
One of R. Kelly's former personal assistants, Cheryl Mack, labelled the singer "a master of mind control" and claimed that he "controlled every aspect of their lives: dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they bathe, when they sleep, and how they engage in sexual encounters that he records."
