Rage Against The Machine are reuniting for a string of live dates in the US next year.
The band, which haven't played live together since 2011, announced the tour dates on Instagram of all places, posting a picture from the Chilean protests. Per their post, Rage Against The Machine will play a total of six dates in 2020, beginning in El Paso, Texas on March 26th, 2020.
While Rage Against The Machine haven't been released any new material in nearly two decades, members of the band have been active in other projects. Guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk formed Audioslave with Soundgarden's Chris Cornell. In 2017, the same members formed Prophets of Rage with Chuck D and DJ Lord from Public Enemy, and B-Real from Cypress Hill.
Despite the live tour dates however, Morello has said as recently as May of this year not to expect any new material from Rage Against The Machine. In an interview with YouTube channel HardDrive Online, Morello said that "(the) times demand people standing up. That’s what I’m doing with my stuff, what Prophets Of Rage is doing. Don’t wait around for Rage Against The Machine."
Rage Against The Machine's last album was Renegades, a collection of covers that include songs such as Bruce Springsteen's 'The Ghost of Tom Joad', Rolling Stones' 'Street Fighting Man' and Bob Dylan's 'Maggie's Farm'.
That said, given how utterly f*cked everything is in the world at the minute, you'd imagine the time is absolutely ripe for some new stuff from them.
