It was touch and go there for a while, but Maroon 5 have managed to secure two incredible rappers for this year's Super Bowl.

The NFL have announced that the 53rd Super Bowl contest will indeed have Maroon 5 as the main performer on the night of February 3rd, in Atlanta, Georgia.

However, the band were never officially confirmed to perform at the half-time performance. This was due to the fact that apparently no-one wanted to be associated with the NFL; joining Colin Kaepernick, who famously knelt during the American National Anthem in 2016. His actions were a protest against the racial injustice that happens in the US.

This lead to Maroon 5 trying to convince artists to perform with them; if they couldn't find anyone, perhaps that would lead to no performance on the night. It's believed that many artists including Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and OutKast's Andre 3000 were approached.

Never fear though, as the NFL have released official confirmation of who will be joining Maroon 5 on stage next month. Presumedly, after Andre 3000 passed on the offer, they moved onto the other half of the rap group, as Big Boi will be part of the performance; as well as Travis Scott. Scott's 2018 album 'Astroworld' was met with critical acclaim and is nominated for Best Rap Album at this year's Grammy Awards.
