The shortlists for numerous Academy Award categories were released last night, and one title may have caught the eye of Irish movie or music fans.

If you've seen the film 'Wild Rose', you'll be aware that Kerry native Jessie Buckley had the role of her life. She played Rose-Lynn Harlan, a Scottish single mother who attempts to make it as a country singer in Nashville. She also revealed herself as a damned good singer in the process.

The song 'Glasgow (No Place Like Home)', which Buckley sings in the film (and which was written by actress and musician Mary Steenburgen) has made the shortlist for 'Best Original Song'.

It's worth pointing out that this is not the same thing as a nomination; those lists are released on January 13th. However, if it does end up receiving a nomination, we could see The Kingdom represented on stage at the Oscars next year (if Buckley sings it on the night).
