Set among the wastes of Alaska, Limbo is mature love story in which the washed-up flotsam of Strarthairn and Mastrantonio seems set to finally beach. Director Sayles, however, has planned something a little more philosophical and the film founders in a second-half disaster plot in which the pair are stranded on a remote island. An ambitious disappointment.
