Jailed for the murder of two park rangers, primatologist Hopkins refuses to speak until confronted by eager psychiatrist Gooding Jr. The dynamic isn't a million miles removed from the Hopkins/Foster relationship in 'Silence of the Lambs' but the scientist's justifications for his actions aren't enough to carry the carnage and 'Instinct' itself is something of a disappointment.
