Having directed 'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer' and 'The Lobster', Yorgos Lanthimos decided to follow these up with (drum-roll) a period comedy about Queen Anne.

It might have seemed like an odd choice to make, but talking to Yorgos Lanthimos about it, it not only makes sense but seems like the most logical decision he could have made. Obviously, it's worked out as 'The Favourite' has been hailed by critics and audiences alike, not to mention putting Olivia Colman into the race as an awards contender.

We talked casting Colman - who Lanthimos described as "the obvious choice" to play Queen Anne - and, most pointedly of all, discussed why the fish-eye lens was used throughout the movie.

'The Favourite' is currently in Irish cinemas and you can subscribe to On The Line on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all good podcast platforms.
