In sterling proof that mediocrity can shine at the box-office, Tim Burton's "meh" adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic yarn is about to cross the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box-office.

According to Empire, other titles to have reached those lofty heights are Avatar, Titanic, The Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King, The Dark Knight and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Actually, the last film on that list is also proof that mediocrity can shine through at the box-office.

Burton can now pretty much direct whatever he wants. So expect him to do something quirky, and mildly gothic, starring his missus and Johnny Depp. What-ever!
