While talking to us about his latest Disney+ drama series 'Dopesick', the actor also briefly made reference to how "lucky" he feels to now be welcomed into the ever-expanding MCU fold.

A number of weeks ago, it was announced that Will Poulter would join the MCU as the superhero Adam Warlock. The cosmic being, who will make his first appearance in 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3', has a close association with the rag-tag team of bounty hunters in the comics, as well as the Fantastic Four.

To date, the 28-year-old actor has enjoyed a steady rise to fame in film, following his initial debut on screen in 'Son of Rambow' which was quickly followed by a supportive role in 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'. He's also played central roles in 'Midsommar', 'Black Mirror: Bandersnatch', and 'The Maze Runner' franchise.

His next project will see him star as medical salesman Billy Cutler in the limited drama series 'Dopesick', which is all about the opioid addiction which swept across the US during the '90s.

We were able to catch up with Will Poulter just days after the announcement of his new role in the MCU, and we couldn't help but congratulate him on landing his biggest job yet. Here's how he responded:

Thank you. Yes, I'm exceptionally lucky - even when you say it out loud it feels weird to me. I'm still in a kind of 'pinch myself' phase. Because it is the MCU, I can't say anything as you probably know but I'm very honoured to be joining 'Guardians of the Galaxy', which is a franchise that I regard as being one of the most unique and creative out there. I'm very honoured to have been included.

On what sort of roles he prefers to play, whether it be cutting edge drama such as 'Dopesick', or straight-up comedy such as when he rapped to 'Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls' by TLC in 'We're The Millers', Poulter told us:

Do you know what, I've been really lucky to do a bit of both. Truth be told, I think my heart lies a little bit more in drama. I have a lot of fun doing comedy, but I enjoy the challenge and emotional strain of drama a little bit more, as odd as that might sound. 'Dopesick' was largely dramatic, and I really enjoyed that. But at the end of the day, good material, a constructive message and top-quality creatives are the sort of things that always drive my decision."

Will Poulter's new series 'Dopesick' will launch on Disney+ on Friday, November 12, which also stars Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson and Kaitlyn Dever. 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' will hit cinemas on May 5, 2023.
