It's not the Step Brothers sequel we're all craving but at least it is the reunion of one of our favourite comic pairings.

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are set to team up again for a Sherlock Holmes comedy called Holmes and Watson.

Arthur Conan Doyle's creations certainly haven't been short on film and television incarnations, particularly in the past few years with both the BBC's Sherlock and the Johnny Lee Miller starring Elementary still going strong on television. Guy Ritchie's big screen versions have also proved popular enough to warrant talk of another installment to start filming next year.

Despite this, Deadline are reporting that Etan Cohen (not to be confused with the Coen Bros.' Ethan) still feels that a comedic take on the detective duo is something the world needs.

Ferrell is set to play the legendary sleuth and Reilly his military doctor best pal in the new version which Cohen has written the script for and will also direct. He previously directed Ferrell in 2015's Get Hard.
