It's Friday WOOOP! And given it's so cold out, it would be a lovely weekend for a trip to the cinema don't you think? There are some great movies in the cinema this week; if you fancy being scared sh*tless then Sinister is for you. A horror movie that might actually be scary, yes. Ethan Hawke stars as crime writer who has just moved his family into a new house - a house that's also a crime scene - which he neglects to tell them. It's not long before things start to go bump in the night. You can read our review for the film here.
If horror is not your thing, Liam Neeson is back with Taken 2, this time kicking half of Istanbul's ass as him and his ex wife get 'taken', leaving it up to the daughter who was kidnapped in the first film to come to save the day... it obviously runs in the family. Another film definitely worth seeing this weekend is The Perks of Being a Wallflower; the coming of age film which is based on the best selling novel of the same name. Charlie (Logan Lerman) has just started high school after recently losing his best friend to suicide and is on serious meds to deal with the trauma. He is taken under the wings of brother and sister Sam and Patrick (Emma Watson and Ezra Miller) as Charlie battles with his dark thoughts. A touching film which we highly recommend.
Our must see movie of the week is Irish flick What Richard Did a startling piece of work based on Richard (Jack Reynor) and his friends who have the world at their feet until one night where his life and the lives of those around him are changed forever. Richard sets his sights on Lara but soon grows insecure of her friendship with Conor leading to a scuffle which has devastating consequences. Read our review for What Richard Did here. Liberal Arts is also out this week a romantic drama written and directed by Josh Radnor of How I met Your Mother. The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen who received great critical acclaim for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene earlier this year.
If your looking for something altogether different why not check out English Vinglish, a Bollywood movie set in New York which follows a Maharashtrian woman's struggle with the English language and the insecurities she faces because of it.
