Wes Craven has officially signed on for Scream 4, according to The LA Times.

The greatest living genre director working today (yeah, I f**king said it), has apparently committed to the third sequel in the hugely popular franchise after reading, original scripter, Kevin Williamson's latest draft. Courtney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell have all signed on to reprise their roles; the size of which has yet to be confirmed.

The fact that Craven is on board, along with Williamson, bodes well for this sequel. The first film is still one of my favourites, and with all the pieces fitting together once again, this could give the slasher genre another well needed root up the arse. Production starts in May, so expect a release towards the end of the year.
