The 1980s classic 'Working Girl' could be reworked by 20th Century Productions with Selena Gomez as a producer and 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' writer Ilena Peña on the script. Apparently, negotiations are underway.

The original film saw Melanie Griffith playing an enthusiastic secretary who becomes so enthusiastic about adopting her OOO (out of office) boss's working identity. Even though the exact details of the adaption have not been disclosed, we're guessing that the reboot plot won't stray too far from that of the award winning movie.

The original cast were as stellar an ensemble as we could imagine; Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver and Joan Cusack. So, casting for a modern day version of the film will have a lot to live up to.

If your familiarity with Gomez is limited to wizardry and the Disney channel, you may wonder why she's been teed up as a producer for what could be the next big film revival.

Honestly? She is the moment — her latest show 'Only Murders in the Building' on Disney+ is in its second season having garnered several Emmy awards nominations and has showcased both her acting and (executive, thank you very much) producing skills.

Hopefully we get the confirmation of the news soon and can tell Selena to "break a leg!" but not literally, just in case someone comes in and tries to pose as her in her job. Sorry, bad joke.

Have you watched 'Only Murders in the Building' yet?
