When you turn out a movie that was as big a critical and commercial disaster as 2012's A Thousand Words it's probably for the best to take a break for a while.

Which is what Eddie Murphy did. He hasn't had an on screen role since then and the only acting he's done. He opened up to Ellen Degeneres back in 2013 that he doesn't want to do 'anything else that sucks ever again.'

From the looks of things, his latest effort, Mr. Church, won't suck. However, the jury is still out on whether or not it will be enough of an increase in quality to draw comparisons to the Mcconaissance.

Murphy plays the titular, Mr. Church, a cook who moves in with Natasha McElhone and her daughter, Charlotte to care for her while she's ill. However, he goes on to become an integral part in the life of both McElhone's character and that of a grown up Charlotte (Britt Robertson).
