When we first heard about the Independence Day sequel, we pretty much rolled our eyes so hard that we had detached retinas.
Independence Day worked because it was a wholly-comprised film that, as we thought anyway, didn't have space for a sequel. But, lo and behold, Roland Emmerich surprised us all with this pretty decent trailer.
As you can see, Earth has now upgraded itself thanks to the alien technology left behind and they've been preparing for another attack by the unnamed aliens from the first one.
It's a bit of a shame that Will Smith isn't involved in this one, but we do have Jeff Goldblum back and using the voiceover of Bill Pullman is an especially nice touch. Also, Liam Hemsworth seems to be channelling Harrison Ford circa-American Graffiti with that haircut.
