Having passed on directing the sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton instead chose Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, an adaptation of the best selling book as his next project.

The plot sees Eva Green star as the titular Miss Peregrine who runs a home to care for unusual children who have a variety of abilities or 'peculiarities'.

Speaking to Empire, Burton described Peregrine as a: “weird Mary Poppins like character—a strong and mysterious person who looks like she could turn into a bird." Intriguing.

Asa Butterfield acts as the audiences' guide through the world as he is welcomed to the home and introduced to this new world. Rounding out the cast are Ella Purnell, Chris O'Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson, plus a large ensemble of young newcomers.
