You'll probably remember watching him do a Christian Bale on it and shrink to the size of heaven knows what while filming, but now we're getting our first glimpse of Matthew McConaughey in action in Dallas Buyers Club.

The film sees McConaughey taking on the role of Ron Woodroof, a Texas electrician who is told by doctors that he is HIV-positive and only has 30 days to live.

Based on real-life events, Dallas Buyers Club recounts a pretty heavy tale as Woodroof battles to find alternative treatments for those suffering with HIV. He even goes as far as to smuggle illegal medicines into the USA from Mexico when the FDA approved drug doesn't do the job.

With support from the likes of Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner, McConaughey definitely looks set to create a bit of Oscar-buzz with this one. Sure aren't they even releasing the movie in LA and New York early to make sure it drops in time for the Academy's consideration?

Dallas Buyers Club hits the USA in December, with an Irish release expected around February 7th 2014.
