After working as a journeyman actor for the best part of twenty years, Taylor Sheridan made a name for himself as a screenwriter with the excellent Sicario in 2015.

He followed it up with last year's Best Picture nominee, Hell or High Water and now for his third feature script Sheridan has decided to call the shots behind the camera himself.

Judging from the first trailer, the result is a tense thriller very much in the vein of Sicario and Hell or High Water. The film sees Elizabeth Olsen's rookie FBI agent called into the Wyoming countryside to investigate when a body is found in the wilderness.

Unprepared for the harshness of the Wyoming weather and it's people, Olsen recruits Jeremy Renner's U.S. Fish & Wildlife agent to help her the killer. Of course the answers aren't as straightforward as either of them were hoping.

After screening at Sundance and more recently at Cannes, The Wind River will be released in the UK in September and hopefully in Ireland at the same time.
