Well, well, well. Who knew Angelina Jolie, she of Girl, Interrupted and Gia, was going to one day sprout wings and start flying around on screen for Disney. But lo and behold, that is where we're at.
After teasing us since the start of the year, Disney have finally given us a proper look at what to expect from Jolie's turn as their iconic villain of Sleeping Beauty fame Maleficent. While many had hoped for this tale to feature a overtly evil Jolie reigning terror on a kingdom in a story of revenge, it appears that the twist in this telling is set to be Maleficent being the one on the end of the betrayed stick and how we're going to hear her side of the story. That twinned with the fact that it appears that Sleeping Beauty herself Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) seems to know Maleficent and be aware of the curse on her should make for a much meatier story.
Maleficent is set to hit cinemas on May 30th.
