Veteran actress of screen and stage Billie Whitelaw passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 82.

Best known to most audiences as the protector of Damien in creepy 1976 horror, The Omen. Whitelaw's unhinged performance as Mrs. Baylock was the highlight of the film, uttering the infamous line, "Fear not, little one. I am here to protect thee."

Whitelaw was also a collaborator with Samuel Beckett, whom he cited as his muse. Most of Beckett's most experimental works were written specifically for her.

In more recent years, Whitelaw starred in 2000's period drama Quills alongside Kate Winslet and earned a BAFTA nomination as her role as the Krays' mother, Violet.

Edgar Wright, who directed Whitelaw in her final role in Hot Fuzz, said that he was "so very happy to have worked with her."
