Oscar winning screenwriter and director Chris McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Way of the Gun) has signed up to write, produce and possibly direct two new projects, The Champions and The Monster of Florence. He last penned the script for the Tom Cruise starring, Bryan Singer directed thriller Valkyrie, and has so far only directed the hugely underrated Way of the Gun; but will set to work on both films for Untied Artists (ran by Cruise) post haste. 'Monster' centres on the true life shenanigans of author Douglas Preston, who investigated a double homicide that took place on a property he bought in Italy. The film chronicles the goings on of that investigation, as he was actually implicated in the murders at some point by the local authorities. McQuarrie is an amazing writer and really deserves another bash and wielding the megaphone, let's hope this interesting sounding project is it.
