Tropic Thunder held off all comers to remain atop the American box-office this weekend with a second weekend taking of $16.1 million. The Anna Faris starring comedy The House Bunny fared best of the newbies with $15.1 million; while the action remake Death Race underperformed with a distinctly average $12.3 million. Other openers The Longshots and The Rocker bowed poorly with $4.3 million and $2.8 million respectively. Death Race will need to show strong legs to pull back its $70 million budget, but with poor reviews echoing around the multiplexes that seems a longer shot than The Longshots.
