'Top Gun: Maverick' is finally making its way towards cinemas this year. It soars onto the big screen on May 27, 2022.

The initial release date for 'Top Gun: Maverick' was July 12, 2019, so it's been delayed by almost three years.

Of course the pandemic wasn't the only reason for its delay. According to reports, additional time also had to be allowed to work out its complex flight sequences.

'Top Gun: Maverick' has been rescheduled for cinematic release a total of six times so here's hoping the May 2022 date is sticking.

Tom Cruise seems optimistic anyway as the latest commercial he's been involved in features plenty of footage of the movie sequel to remind you it's coming soon.

The advertisement is for last weekend's AFC Championship, in which the Cincinnati Bengals faced off the Kansas City Chiefs, with the former coming out the winner.

Footage of American football is intercut with the Cruiser flying around, feeling the need for speed.

Check it out below.

Now that the AFC Championship is wrapped, there's high anticipation for Super Bowl LVI on 13 February.

You can expect plenty more ads for big upcoming cinema releases - and we'll be covering them all here.
