Not to name-drop or anything, but I'm off to London this afternoon to catch up with Robert Downey Jnr and the majority of Iron Man 3's cast members (not to mention the super cool director Shane Black); eeeek! In the meantime, here's some bits and bobs of casting news to tide yiz over 'til my return.

Tom Cruise (who I keep having dreams about ever since meeting him the week before last; stalkery, I know) has just been cast in what? Yep, another sci-fi movie. It's an adaptation of a sci-fi novel and it's called Yukikaze. As per Deadline, Yukikaze will, like Oblivion, be a movie on a massive scale. And (again, like Oblivion) it involves the attempted destruction of Tom's dearly beloved Earth. "Yukikaze unfolds in the early 21st Century, three decades after the alien force JAM invaded earth through a dimensional porthole that appeared over Antarctica. While humans beat back the attack, they form a special combat force to eradicate the alien threat on its home planet." - source: Deadline

Is he right to stick to the genre considering it's proving to be so lucrative? Or, like me, would you prefer to see Tom tone it down a notch and return to more character driven movies, like Jerry Maguire, or Vanilla Sky, or Collateral. Enough with the save-the-day bullshit already.

In other casting news, the fourth installment of Transformers (Transformers 4) have just added the always awesome Stanley Tucci to their bill. We've got zero deets as of yet regarding his role; Michael Bay announced the news just yesterday. Tucci will join Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and our very own Jack Reynor. Next out for the Tooch will be The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the trailer for which dropped just yesterday.

In production news - Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have just begun work on the Wachowski's next sci-fi flick, Jupiter Ascending.

Below we take a look at Tom Cruise's career in pics.
