Theory of Everything star Felicity Jones is keeping the science and adding the fiction with her next big role.

The English actress - who we had a lovely chat with some time ago - has signed on to star in the first spin-off Star Wars movie.

Directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards and written by (GULP) Book of Eli's Gary Whitta and The Golden Compass' Chris Weitz, the spin-off Star Wars movie's plot has yet to be revealed, but there's rife speculation already.

As usual, Felicity's role hasn't been announced but there's more than a few fan theories about her character and the story itself.

Many believe it'll focus on bounty hunters - Boba Fett, specifically - and follow them trying to track down the Death Star plans that would lead into A New Hope, the very first Star Wars film released.

Others think it's going to be about Han Solo's early years, although this is all conjecture really.

A release date has been pencilled in for December 16th, 2016 and we'd expect an announcement of a title pretty shortly.
