Major studio Paramount are moving forward with a 3D third instalment of The Ring, according to the folks over at Heat Vision.
The original American film was a remake of the Japanese thriller, Ringu, and was a huge box-office hit upon its initial release. A poorly received sequel and a bunch of awful Asian horror remakes like One Missed Call and Shutter, soon put an end to the short-lived craze. Naomi Watts became a star after the first one, while Gore Verbinski went on to helm mega franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean.
It's thought Watts won't be returning, as this sequel is described as more "teen friendly," and seen as a reboot of the original format.
