The 2015 Academy Awards were announced at lunchtime today...

So the nominees have been announced. Always difficult to wrap your head around the nominations immediately. From our point of view we would've liked to see some love for Skeleton Twins, and a little more for Nightcrawler - despite the Best Original Screenplay nod. Whiplash is a belter, but it's best hope for gold is probably JK Simmons. Who is awesome. And Channing Tatum being overlooked for Foxcatcher is harsh, but expected. That Best Actor gong should be Michael Keaton's barring a huge upset. 

Other than that, huge congrats to Irish nominees Tomm Moore and the Cartoon Saloon for Song of the Sea in Best Animated Feature and also to Sinead O'Sullivan for Costume Design in Mr. Turner.
